How to make the most of your online advertising budget.

Don't let the relatively low cost of online advertising fool you. Incorrect and unplanned advertising can still cost you a lot of money with little or no returns.

Before you advertise:

Unlike print advertising, where the objective often is for people to contact you by phone or to visit your store, the objective of online advertising is normally to get people to either visit your web site or a sales page, where the web site takes over the "sales" function, and only from there does the person contact you or buy your product. 

This means that your web site design, and the landing page where people go to from your advert, must be well designed and clear about your offer. 

Advertising tips:

  1. Ensure that your advert focuses on the benefits that people will be looking for.
  2. Make sure that your landing page compliments the message of your advert and that people can easliy find whatever you are advertising.
  3. Ensure that your advert is clear and with clear instructions to visitors onwhat to do, i.e. Click Here
  4. Make sure you advertise on web sites that target your niche market. advertising luxury cars on a teen site probably willnot work very well.
  5. Make sure that your advert is positioned where visitors can see it easily, preferrably above the scroll.
  6. Ensure that your advert or banner is not hidden in one of the back pages of the site.
  7. Ensure that the content of the site or pages where your advert appears compliments your advert.
